, microaerophilic, and anaerobic bacteria and fungi were negative. Adenosine deaminase levels in the CSF, which would be elevated in CNS tuberculosis, were within normal limits. The antibiotic regimen was altered to a combination of intravenous ceftazidime, amikacin, and vancomycin. Intravenous methylprednisolone infusion at 5.5 mg/kg/hr and empirical therapy with amphotericin were also instituted.
