Zeel Patel, Justin Z. Wang, Zamir Merali, Vikas Patil, Farshad Nassiri, Qingxia Wei, Julio Sosa, Claire Coire, and Gelareh Zadeh

Meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial tumor, comprising approximately one-third of all brain tumors. Symptoms can vary depending on the size and anatomical location of the tumor but can include headaches, seizures, neurological deficits, and behavioral changes. 1 These tumors are identified usually through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT), often following the development of neurological symptoms or incidentally in asymptomatic patients on imaging obtained for other clinical purposes. 2 While molecular profiling

cranial fossa such as in this case and aim for total resection of the tumor. Preoperative radiological examination suggested ABC, and histopathological examination showed typical characteristics of ABC-like area and SFT. Immunohistochemical examinations lead to the definitive diagnosis of SFT with ABC-like change. This may be misdiagnosed as meningioma or ABC, but by diagnosing it as SFT, we ensure close follow-up for recurrence or metastasis in the future. Careful preoperative examination, complete resection of the tumor, and close postoperative observation are

Primary germinoma of the medulla oblongata: illustrative case

Pablo Albiña, Aracelly Solis, Jose Lorenzoni, Pablo Henny, and María Manriquez

diagnosis proposed by the radiology department consisted of dorsal exophytic glioma, ependymoma, and foramen magnum meningioma. The patient’s critical clinical presentation was compatible with a severe medulla oblongata compression, and, for this reason, an emergency neurosurgical decompression was considered mandatory, with a secondary gross total resection (GTR). FIG. 1. Preoperative imaging. Axial MRI slices at the level of the medulla oblongata show a well-defined exophytic T1-isointense and T2-hyperintense dorsal medullary tumor in noncontrast T1WI ( A ), T2WI

The mean age was 50 years (standard deviation ±17, range 23–75). The EETS resection of pituitary adenoma was complicated with SAH in five (62
