The initial experience of InterSurgeon: an online platform to facilitate global neurosurgical partnerships

procedural checklists to determine their capacity to increase the frequency of safety-critical behaviors during laparoscopic cholecystectomies. Cases were randomized from April 2001 to July 2002. Their study represents the first use of operative checklists in the US. No differences in patient outcome, case duration, and technical proficiency were noted between surgeons proceeding with a preprocedural briefing and checklist versus those proceeding in their standard fashion.
