itself is relatively painless, well tolerated, and is not associated with the potential adverse effects that are caused by high temperatures. 10 Radiofrequency is a minimally invasive, target-selective modality that has been in clinical use for more than 25 years and has been demonstrated to be successful for reducing pain in several chronic pain conditions including trigeminal neuralgia, chronic low-back pain, postherpetic neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome, ischemic pain, cervicobrachialgia, postthoracotomy pain, occipital neuralgia, and cervical or lumbar

cardiac pacemaker. An alternative procedure to RF ablation is kryoablation (kryotherapy). Kryotherapy has been used to treat pain syndromes such as postthoracotomy neuralgia and trigeminal neuralgia for several years, and the technique was adapted to treat LFJS a short time ago. 2, 11 Kryorhizotomy, using CO 2 inflation, creates a frozen area at the probe's tip, which can move up to 5 mm 11 (in thermoablation, in contrast, the distance is only 2–3 mm). Thus, a wider area of the targeted region can be reached. Phantom pain has not been described after kryoablation

intradural nodules of various shapes and sizes in the lumbar canal, with the same signal pattern as schwannomas. 3 , 4 Thin-layer FIESTA is useful for anatomical delineation and prognosis prediction in cranial nerve lesions, such as trigeminal neuralgia and suprasellar tumors. 7 , 8 In our case, FIESTA was used to identify the origin of tumors and was of great value for surgical planning. Preoperative VRT 3D reconstruction of lumbar CT was also helpful in the measurement of interlaminar spaces and bone window design. Total surgical removal is the preferred treatment for

associated with postoperative fatigue in a prospective evaluation of glioblastoma patients. 33 Analogously, depression was reported to be significantly associated with pain persistence and dissatisfaction with outcome after microvascular decompression in trigeminal neuralgia patients. 34 , 35 Depression and Outcome in CM-1 In accordance with the previous studies described above, our study provides evidence that depression is independently associated with poor surgical outcome in adult CM-1 patients, specifically according to our evaluation of improvement in pain symptoms

Sacral preservation in cauda equina syndrome from inferior vena cava thrombosis

the absence of frank compression, venous inflammation and/or dilation may irritate cauda equina nerve roots akin to the neurovascular conflict observed in trigeminal neuralgia. 7 , 20 The 2 prior reports of acute CES from IVC thrombosis described a complete form of CES involving low-back pain, lower-extremity weakness and pain, perineal numbness, bowel/bladder dysfunction, and lower-extremity hyporeflexia. 4 , 16 The symptomatology noted in our patient has only been previously described in more chronic presentations. 5 , 10 , 24 The lack of sacral root symptoms
