Eric Oldberg, M.D., 1901–1986

Dr. Eric Oldberg died on June 18, 1986, at the age of 85 years. He was born in Evanston, Illinois, on November 7, 1901, the son of Arne Oldberg, Professor of Music at Northwestern University, and Mary Sloan Oldberg. He attended Northwestern University, where he received a B.Sc. degree in 1923, an M.D. degree in 1927, and a Ph.D. degree in 1928. In 1961 he was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws from his old university. He received his neurosurgical training at Peter Bent Brigham Memorial Hospital and was the last person to serve alone as Chief Resident
